Community Economic Development (CED) 101 Webinar Series

New to the community economic development field? Join CEDAM once a month from January to June for our Community Economic Development (CED) 101 webinar series. This series explores the history of the field, helps folks to understand the alphabet soup of the work, and highlights exciting projects happening across Michigan. We do it all through a lens of becoming responsible practitioners who work to undo the effects of exclusionary policies that still impact our communities today. 

This year, we’ll cover the sub-sectors of community planning, affordable housing, community health, climate equity, and economic inclusion.

Real Estate Development Bootcamp

CEDAM’s Real Estate Development Boot Camp is a multi-part training program designed to give you the tools needed to develop affordable housing in your community. From rising construction costs to new funding sources, our training curriculum is updated each year to provide context around the current real estate development landscape in Michigan. We bring in experienced speakers from across the state and country to discuss practical applications of this work and help you create important connections. 

Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP) & Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) Training

Are you a seasoned affordable housing developer or possibly thinking of utilizing Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) for the first time? Please join CEDAM, MSHDA, equity investors, and developers for a day-long training and discussion about MSHDA’s LIHTC program, application expectations through the new Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP), the status of the equity market, as well as what equity investors expect to see prior to funding a project.

Inclusive Hiring Practicum

CEDAM’s four-week, interactive practicum will take your hiring practices to the next level. You’ll work with CEDAM staff and a cohort of peers to dive deep into inclusive hiring concepts and explore tools that also increase your efficiency. By dedicating two hours a week, you’ll take away attainable action steps to improve your hiring plans.
