CED Corps

We are excited to announce the CED Corps: our newest capacity building program!

In this sister program to our Community Development Fellowship, CEDAM will place AmeriCorps members at organizations across the state with the same goal of removing barriers to development and increasing collaboration within communities.

 Some member activities include:

  • Supporting integration of zoning and development best practices outlined in the Redevelopment Ready Communities Toolkit
  • Assessing inventory for development potential, such as reviewing available parcels and/or properties
  • Supporting rehabilitation of properties in the inventory
  • Understanding local incentives and resources for development
  • Planning and advancing the creation of additional housing units to meet regional needs

Read more about this new program and how we’re blending the best of two of our capacity building programs, read our press release.

Host Site Applications

We are now seeking host site applications for the inaugural cohort! Michigan municipalities, nonprofits, land banks, and economic development agencies are eligible to host a member. During this 11-month cohort, members at host organizations will increase capacity, effectiveness, and efficiency by:

  • Removing barriers to housing development
  • Strengthening best practices around zoning, communications, and community engagement
  • Creating processes to better support emerging entrepreneurs and small businesses
  • Preparing for program implementation or expansion

Please read through the host site packet for more details. Applications must be submitted by September 7.

The CED Corps program is in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the Michigan Community Service Commission
