MI Healthy Climate Corps Program Coordinator

CEDAM is seeking an experienced program coordinator to support future climate leaders participating in the MI Healthy Climate Corps program. The MI Healthy Climate Corps (MHC Corps) is a new program of the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), for which CEDAM is the operator partner. Starting in March, 30 MHC Corps members will be deployed statewide to provide critical capacity to communities tackling climate change. Member projects tie directly to the MI Healthy Climate Plan and are tailored to the organization at which they serve.

The program coordinator position is responsible for program administrative tasks and will be the first point of contact for day-to-day AmeriCorps member interactions. As such, they will have the opportunity to nurture statewide relationships, ensure program compliance, and be an integral part of supporting future climate leaders. The program coordinator will report directly to the MI Healthy Climate Corps program manager.

The program coordinator works hand-in-hand with CEDAM’s MI Healthy Climate Corps program manager to support program participants who serve at host partner organizations statewide. This includes:

Program Administration
The program coordinator is the point of contact for day-to-day MHC Corps member questions and will provide excellent customer service throughout the process. They will:

  • Promptly answer questions and provide guidance that meets AmeriCorps compliance
  • Collect and ensure accurate program paperwork is completed, including new hire paperwork, timesheets, monthly reports, and contracts
  • Coordinate with host partners, members, and program manager to schedule site visits
  • Attend site visits as able


Program Recruitment
The program coordinator is responsible for the setup and management of the MHC Corps partner and member application. They will:

  • Manage application portals and provide technical assistance for applicants
  • Participate in the host partner application review and selection process
  • Schedule final interviews with program participant candidates and participate in candidate interviews


Training and Event Support
The program coordinator supports the program manager in implementing a yearly training plan with virtual and in-person components. They will:

  • Coordinate schedules, invitations, and event logistics
  • Book meeting space, lodging, and catering
  • Provide virtual or in-person technical support
  • Follow-up with training participants, guests, and presenters
  • Ensure training websites are maintained


Communications and Outreach
The program coordinator collaborates with CEDAM’s communications team to highlight the program’s success. They will:

  • Create content for CEDAM newsletters, blog posts, and social media to promote the program


Cross-Organization Support
As part of the CEDAM team, the program coordinator participates in cross-organization activities. They will:

  • Attend bi-weekly all-staff meetings in Lansing
  • Represent CEDAM and the MHC Corps team at conferences, events, and CEDAM regional events
  • Participate as possible in CEDAM organizational committees
  • Collaborate with coworkers via task management software and Slack


This position falls within pay grade 1. We offer an annual salary of $53,560 for this position.

  • Precision in past work and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced understanding of digital platforms like Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite

Due to the nature of this position, the MHC Corps Program Coordinator will need to be prepared to travel statewide, at times being on the road multiple days a week. The right candidate for this position will enjoy working directly with program partners.

The CEDAM team is currently working remotely with an office available in the REO Town neighborhood in Lansing if needed. New staff members have access to a home office stipend to assist with outfitting their space.

The CEDAM team meets twice monthly in Lansing. Candidates may be based anywhere in Michigan but must be willing and able to travel to Lansing and other areas of the state. Travel is reimbursed at the IRS rate, but applicants do not need to own a car to be considered.
