Ferndale, Yasmine Suleiman

Yasmine Suleiman is the 2021-2022 community development fellow for the City of Ferndale. Yasmine has taken an interest in Ferndale as it has been used as a case study for several of her urban planning classes at Wayne State University, where she is a fourth-year undergraduate student in the Urban Studies program. She hopes to continue her education by obtaining a graduate degree in urban planning. Yasmine has had a long-standing interest and years of experience in community organizing and working with several communities in Michigan, including Canton and Detroit. Yasmine has been involved in the Muslim communities around the metro Detroit area since high school and intends to continue her involvement throughout the fellowship. She hopes to bring back the skills she gains as a CEDAM fellow to these communities that she holds dear to her.
