Shara Washington, Member Engagement Coordinator

As the Member Engagement Coordinator, Shara plays a key role in implementing and executing membership engagement initiatives, including campaigns, events, and training sessions. Shara works in tandem with the Director of Member Engagement to ensure high standards of member satisfaction. She serves as the primary point of contact for member needs, manages CEDAM’s membership database, and provides support for in-person and virtual events.

Shara has more than eleven years of experience managing office processes and customer relationships. Her most recent position was with the Michigan Senate as an office manager and scheduler for the Office of the Majority Appropriations Chair. While in this role, she handled all incoming meeting requests, supported event and budget planning activities, and streamlined office operations. Shara also has experience working with community economic development organizations and has held roles with the City of Lansing, Michigan House of Representatives, and the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission.

Shara loves to travel, relax on the beach, listen to music, and binge-watch TV shows. She’s also a devoted sports fan and enjoys spending quality time with loved ones. When she’s not working, you might catch her hanging out with friends, doting on her nieces and nephews, or tackling a tricky sudoku or word puzzle on her phone. Shara is a native of Lansing and is deeply committed to advocacy, fostering cooperative relationships, and supporting resilient communities. Currently, she is pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
