As CEDAM’s AmeriCorps program coordinator, Maria supports CEDAM’s AmeriCorps Members during their service to Michigan non-profits and municipalities. Maria provides day-to-day support for members, assists the AmeriCorps program manager with training and recruitment, and conducts program administration and shares program success. She also shares tools, technical assistance, and professional development opportunities with the CEDAM AmeriCorps cohort.
A three-time AmeriCorps alum herself, Maria grew up in Peoria, Illinois and served communities across the country with FEMA Corps. After completing service to Seattle, she received her bachelor’s degree in community development from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Prior to her work at CEDAM, Maria developed the emergency preparedness program for Disability Network Capital Area and managed the Disaster Cycle Services Program at the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Maria has enjoyed working in the non-profit field throughout the past fifteen years. In her spare time, she physically blocks opponent skaters from scoring points with Lansing Roller Derby and (after getting beat up) likes to curl up with a good book and her cats Juniper and Mr. Fig.
