Yelena Ramautar, Community Development Advocates of Detroit – At Large

Yelena Ramautar currently serves as the Director of Member Services and Community Engagement for CDAD. In this role, Yelena’s work is focused on engaging members in all of CDAD’s work. This includes planning and leading their bi-monthly membership meetings, member-only meetings, caucus meetings, community engagement learning communities, and Community Development Week. Prior to joining CDAD, Yelena was the Special Projects and Partnership Coordinator for Detroit City Councilman James Tate. She was also a community organizer for O’Hair Park Community Association. As a community organizer, she developed a deep passion and commitment to community organizing, engagement, and development. She believes every resident in the City of Detroit deserves to have their voice heard and they must be a part of the development of their city.

Individual DEI Statement: I am a Black Woman of Indian descent, born in Guyana and educated in New York. I have worked professionally in college advising for minority students, community organizing in urban populations in the Bronx and Detroit; and given administrative assistance to officials in local and state government. As a naturalize US citizen, I bring a particular perspective on the immigrant experience in this country. I am committed to urban community progress and the pursuit of social justice for all.
