In keeping with its mission to connect and educate community leaders, provide expertise and advocate for policy and projects to impact rural Michigan, the Michigan Rural Council would like to share some exciting projects that are underway!
The 2014 Small Town & Rural Development Conference
Interested in sharing your ideas for revitalization and development in rural communities? Then consider submitting a proposal to be a breakout session presenter at this year’s Small Town & Rural Development Conference.
The MRC is starting to gear up for the conference and is in need of proposals from exciting and innovative presenters. Each year, the Michigan Rural Council welcomes regional, national and international speakers and presenters to the Small Town & Rural Development Conference whose expertise and passion make this event the premier conference for rural community development in Michigan.
Popular speaker topics include: placemaking, retaining young talent, tourism, local food hubs, and much more. The MRC would love to hear your ideas and connect you to relevant audiences at our conference. Check out more details about the conference here and be sure and submit your proposals by Wednesday, November 13!
2014 Community Assessments
The MRC is pleased to announce that we will be conducting another round of community assessments this year. This program is an affordable opportunity designed to assess assets and challenges, define issues to be addressed, and help rural communities take the first step in the long-range planning process.
This process is intended to empower communities and to give them the tools necessary to take ownership of their future. It is important to us that these assessments are locally led, incorporate authentic and local voice, and have representation from multiple sectors of the community. If your community is looking for a boost toward a viable and sustainable future, than please consider applying.
More information on this program can be found on our website. If you are interested in applying, please review the request for proposals and submit an application by December 2nd. Both can be found on our website. We are very much looking forward to working with you and your community!
The Michigan Rural Council is excited and proud of the work they are currently doing and appreciate your support in its continuation. Whether you plan to be a conference presenter, wish to take part in a community assessment or want to become a member of MRC, we would love to hear from you.
