Go to Ferndale, and you will find a library supporting one of the defining characteristics of the community with a local music collection and live concerts. In Chelsea, the library collaborates to host events like a Literary Walk around the historic downtown, Comedy Showcase and a Trivia Night at a local brewery. The Detroit Public Library has a Makerspace for youth. Howell is home to one of several libraries with dedicated MI-SBTDC business resource centers and SCORE business counseling on site. The Capital Area District Library has a spot at Capital Area Michigan Works to make sure people know about free job skills classes at the library. A school library in Marshall is teaching students video production; another in Saginaw is preparing them for college, seeing an increase in ACT scores by 3 points on average.
