Although most CDCs are nonprofits, they range in size from no full time staff at all to hundreds of full time employees. A majority of CDCs are small, with less than 20 employees, but that does not mean they are new to the neighborhood! Three of every four CDCs have been around for more than 10 years, and one third have an executive director that has served for more than 10 years. For operating budget and funding information, see Funding.

None of the 82 CDCs were 501c(4), 501c(6), or Block Clubs.
