The Microenterprise Network of Michigan’s Resource Directory for Michigan Entrepreneurs and Microbusinesses has expanded greatly since its roll out in August. As always we are trying to continue this process by adding new resources and making the directory available to as many entrepreneurs and business owners as possible, in order to add concrete value to the state’s entrepreneurial community.
Michigan has plentiful resources for aspiring entrepreneurs all around the state. Many of these are provided by MDOs as traditional services like microlending, business training and technical assistance, but we have grown to realize that there are a significant number of organizations offering entrepreneurial services outside of that conventional scope. In lieu of this, we have added numerous other service offerings such as entrepreneurial clubs, competitions, incubators and more. As we added more and more diverse services, the way our original resource directory was originally set up made less and less sense.
Now that our resource directory has grown to include roughly 50 resources around the state under a variety of service types and specialized clientele, we figured that it could use a face lift! With the help of our IT guru Katie Fritz, we have completely revamped the look and functionality of our directory to mirror its changing character.
The directory is now broken down into four different search categories: service, county, entrepreneur profile and industry. These categories can be searched individually, using any mix of them or using all of them. We attempted to make the search structure simpler and more intuitive, and we hope that you agree when we say that it is much more aesthetically pleasing as well!
