Coming in 2010: CEDAM’s Comprehensive Community Development Institute
Later this spring, CEDAM will launch a new program aimed at training the next generation of Michigan’s community developers and providing fresh and timely information to our more advanced developers. The program – offered at a deeply discounted rate to CEDAM members – will feature two modules:
- The first module, an Introduction to Real Estate Development, will borrow heavily from CEDAM’s Real Estate Development Training (REDT) program of years past but will be tailored to the new Michigan development environment and will include new information on federal funding programs and green rehabilitation. After learning core concepts, participants will have the opportunity to split off into specialized tracks focusing on single-family development, multi-family development, and commercial revitalization.
- The second module, Advanced Topics in Community Development, will be geared to more experienced developers seeking nuts and bolts in order to shift program focus, take advantage of new funding opportunities, and address organizational challenges. Sessions will be offered ‘cafeteria’ style (you can choose one or more to attend) and may include: Foreclosure Intervention Tactics, Managing Scattered Site Rehabs, CDC Succession Planning and Leadership, and other topics.
